Xenophon of Athens (430 - 355 BCE) was a Greek historian, philosopher, and military leader involved in the Battle of Cunaxa: a brief war waged for control of the Achaemenid throne. Xenophon was a student of Socrates, whom he was said to have met in a narrow outdoor path. Aside from the dialogues of Plato, the works of Xenophon are the only remaining writings of the Socratic dialogue.
