Ancient South Arabian language ( 𐩣𐩯𐩬𐩵 ) evolved from the Proto-Sinaitic script in the second millenium BCE, and was spoken in the southern portion of the Arabian Peninsula. Written from right to left, Ancient South Arabian is an abjad: a writing system in which only consonants are represented. It remained in use until about the sixth century CE, after which it evolved into modern Ge'ez script.
